The alive and thrive pack has been produced by the Suffolk Disability and Health Action Group, SDHAG, which was established early in 1997 and aims to promote the good health of people with disability, raise awareness of their specific needs and initiate projects to enhance their lifestyle. The Group is now linked into Suffolk’s multi-agency partnership working arrangements through the Physical and Sensory Disabilities Partnership Group. The need for this pack was identified through Access into Health events held in Mid Suffolk in 1995, 1997 and 2000, and quantified by a survey aimed at establishing what might encourage people with disabilities to become more active and live a healthier lifestyle. It has been clearly shown that, for people with disability, activity, even the smallest amount, can improve their health and enhance quality of life. |
